The Ridge Room
One wall is mostly window, and it faces the valley. Wake up before six and you will not mind at all. En-suite, own entrance.
A working farm on the edge of the Kamiesberg. Three places to sleep, a stoep that faces west, and from August the whole valley goes orange.
Aloe Ridge has been in the same family since 1936. It is still a working sheep farm — the guest units came later, built out of the old labourers' cottages and the original farmhouse when the wool price made up everyone's mind for them.
Nothing here is themed. The stone walls are the original walls, the fireplaces work because they always have, and the quiet at night is the actual quiet, not a feature.
Each one is different because none of them were built to be guest rooms. Rates are per unit per night, not per person.

One wall is mostly window, and it faces the valley. Wake up before six and you will not mind at all. En-suite, own entrance.

The oldest building on the farm, and the warmest in winter. Open fireplace, full kitchen, two bedrooms. Wood is on the stoep.

Two whitewashed rooms off the old werf, doors opening straight onto the garden. Take one or take both if there are six of you.
There is one outside light on the werf and we will switch it off if you ask. Bring a blanket; it drops fast once the sun goes.
The booking sites are useful and we are on them. But they take a commission on every reservation, and that money comes out of the farm rather than out of thin air.
Book through this page and there is no commission. That is why the direct rate is lower than the one you will find elsewhere, and why we answer the enquiry ourselves rather than through a platform inbox.
No deposit for one or two nights. Longer stays, we ask for half.
Same room, same three nights. The difference is whether a platform takes R945 of it. Booked direct, that stays on the farm — which is the whole reason this page exists.
Most of our bookings start with somebody telling somebody else. These are the three we would put up once you have chosen them.
“Your review goes here. Pick three off your Facebook page or your guest book and we drop them straight in.”
“Choose ones that mention different things — the quiet, the flowers, the drive in — so all three are not saying the same sentence.”
“Send the three you want and the name to go under each, and they are on the page the same day.”
We answer every enquiry the same day. If we are full we will tell you who else is worth phoning.
